Job Description

Full-Time Seasonal Position | September–May | Recurring Seasonal Opportunity

$23–$27 per hour, based on experience, plus performance-based bonus opportunities

Fitness Machine Technicians is a leading provider of commercial and residential fitness equipment repair and preventive maintenance services. As part of the only national fitness equipment repair franchise network in the U.S., we combine the resources of a national brand with the personal service of a local business.

We are looking for a Field Service Technician to join our growing Twin Cities team. This is a full-time seasonal position, generally running from September through May , with flexibility around the exact start and end dates.

The position is designed as a recurring seasonal opportunity , and we would welcome strong performers back for future seasons. This can be an excellent fit for someone who wants full-time work during the fall, winter, and spring while having flexibility during the summer.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting problems, working with their hands, solving problems independently, and interacting with customers.

Previous fitness equipment experience is a plus, but not required. We will train the right candidate.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on commercial and residential fitness equipment
  • Service equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, strength equipment, and other fitness machines
  • Travel to customer locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area
  • Install, assemble, and disassemble fitness equipment
  • Explain equipment issues and recommended repairs to customers in a clear and professional manner
  • Complete accurate service reports documenting work performed and recommended repairs
  • Use a company-provided tablet to manage your schedule, access work orders, document service calls, and communicate with the office
  • Occasionally lift, move, and position heavy fitness equipment

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Mechanically inclined and enjoys figuring out how things work
  • Comfortable using hand tools and troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems
  • A self-starter who can work independently without constant supervision
  • Comfortable interacting with customers and explaining technical issues in an understandable manner
  • Organized and able to manage multiple service calls throughout the day
  • Professional, dependable, and committed to doing quality work
  • Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for scheduling and service documentation
  • Willing to learn new equipment, technologies, and repair procedures

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience using hand tools to assemble, repair, maintain, or troubleshoot mechanical or electrical equipment
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel locally to multiple customer locations throughout the workday
  • Ability to work independently in customer homes and commercial facilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move heavy equipment

Fitness equipment repair experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided for the right candidate.

What We Offer

  • $23–$27 per hour, based on experience
  • Full-time hours during the September–May season
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Take-home company vehicle
  • Flexible schedule
  • No on-call weekends
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan
  • Training and ongoing technical development
  • Growth and advancement opportunities
  • Climate-controlled work environment
  • Opportunity to return for future seasons based on performance and business needs

Why Work With Us?

This isn't a job where you'll be sitting in a shop all day. You'll visit different customers, diagnose problems, work with your hands, and solve something different every day.

The position is full-time during the September–May season , with the potential to return each year. We're looking for people who want to become part of our team rather than simply fill a short-term position.

If you're the type of person who likes figuring things out, fixing things, working independently, and providing great customer service , we'd like to hear from you.
