Job Description

Job Opportunity at MP Materials

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification. We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is on a mission to restore the full rare earth supply chain to the United States of America. From electric cars to wind turbines and drones, rare earth materials are essential to the low-carbon, electrified technologies that power modern life. We hire ambitious, mission-driven people motivated to solve problems and affect change. Our values are grounded in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with an enduring commitment to our employees, community, and the environment. In the coming years, MP Materials will grow from a core materials and chemical processing company into a large industrial manufacturer. Our employees will lead this exciting transformation and grow professionally with us.

This is a rare opportunity to have a vital role in the initial stages of a greenfield advanced manufacturing facility and helping to define the future of American manufacturing. Ideal candidates will be hands-on with experience in a 24/7 industrial operation. The new facility will contain a broad range of chemical, mechanical, and thermal processes. The magnet making metal department consists of equipment such as die presses, vacuum furnaces, machining equipment, passivation line, and automated inspection equipment. Following start of production, the Machinist will be assigned to a specific 12 hour rotating shift. Prior to the start of production, the Machinist is expected to participate in piloting activities to gain familiarity with the process, with some variation in shift details expected during this period.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a high volume precision machine shop.
  • Detail oriented and meticulous about housekeeping.
